The 2011 HMAS Harman - ADFA Community Regatta is to be held at the Canberra Yacht Club (CYC), on Lake Burley Griffin, on Sunday 11 September 2011. This charity event is a great pre-season start to the 2011-2012 ACT sailing season, and a large number of off-the-beach dinghies, catamarans and trailables will be competing for four perpetual trophies and five racing divisions. All proceeds from entry fees, and sale of food and drinks will be donated to Harman's charity, Queanbeyan Legacy, and ADFA's charity, the Podmore Foundation. Download the Notice of Race.
The winds on Lake Burley Griffin are good at this time of the year, and the CYC has a very high reputation for race management and friendly atmosphere. The club offers a good rigging area and easy access to the water. The grassy surrounds also afford great viewing of the racing on the adjacent waters of Lake Burley Griffin.
A wide choice of suitable accommodation is available in Canberra and nearby Queanbeyan. Information is available on website http://www.visitcanberra.com.au. Visitors not directly involved with racing have convenient access to a wide range of interesting major attractions of national cultural and historic significance not far from the CYC.
