The Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) Open Day is a chance for Defence employees and their families, ADFA candidates, and members of the community to witness a range of exciting military displays by the Navy, Army and Air Force and to learn about life at the Academy.
This year visitors can expect to see a Navy helicopter, the RAAF Balloon and ADFA’s very own Formula Society of Automotive Engineers racing vehicle. The Roulettes will also conduct a flypast, military vehicles will be on display, a mock Section Attack will occur, and people over the age of 16 years can test their skills in the Weapons Training Simulation System.
ADFA’s midshipmen and officer cadets will display some of the skills obtained in their training by completing the above-pool obstacle course, conducting outdoor battle physical training, abseiling, fencing, rock climbing and demonstrating military self defence. The Academy’s Precision Drill Team and Band will also perform on the day.
Defence and University of New South Wales (UNSW) staff will be on hand to provide career and course information for interested people and their families. Midshipmen and officer cadets will also be available to talk about life at ADFA, and to conduct personalised tours. They can give visitors a first hand account of their military training and their academic programs.
Defence employees who are interested in higher education will be able to obtain information on postgraduate studies or research opportunities available through UNSW@ADFA.
