The Commanding Officer of HMAS Success, CMDR Ainsley Morthorpe made the following statement following the announcement that HMAS Success was awarded the Amphibious Afloat Support Group Efficiency Shield.

"The AASG Efficiency Shield has been a welcome recognition of the great work being done by the team in Success. After a short work-up to start the year off the ship has essentially been operating in the tropics for the majority of the year, supporting a series of major exercises off Darwin and up in Singapore and Malaysia. It is this sort of work that the Success team excels at, and the crew have responded well to the demands.

The award of the AASG Efficiency Shield also recognises the great attention to detail that has become the hallmark of this crew. The busy operational tempo was achieved through a careful husbanding of the ship, while the 'Can do, safely' motto was in the forefront of the crews thoughts.

The award is a great way to finish off the year, and as the ship prepares to undergo a significant change to her structure over Christmas in Singapore, the crew is rising to the unique challenge which they are well and truly ready to face."
