Armidale Class Patrol Boat Crew Attack Five
Attack Five is the fifth of six crews which form Attack Division. Based in Darwin, Attack Five is one of six rotational crews which shares responsibility for Armidale Class Patrol Boats (ACPBs), HMA Ships Armidale, Larrakia, Bathurst and Albany - the ACPBs that make up the Attack Division.
Attack Five officially formed up to undertake platform training on 27 March 2006. Being the first rotational Crew, Attack Five was the first Crew whose formation did not coincide with the introduction of a new Patrol Boat into the Navy. The formation of Attack Five along with Attack Six was formally recognised in a Crew Inauguration Ceremony held at HMA Ship Coonawarra on 12 May 2006.
Attack Five commenced the multi-crewing regime for Attack Division in June 2006 when the Crew assumed responsibility for HMA Ship Armidale from Attack One.
Since completing Crew training ashore and at sea Attack Five's primary tasking has been as part of the ADF's domestic maritime security activities conducted under Operation Resolute, providing vital border protection against illegal fishing and people smuggling as part of the whole-of-government efforts to protect Australia 's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
