Lieutenant Commander David Ince, RAN
Lieutenant Commander David Ince, MIExpE, RAN enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy in 2006 as a Minewarfare Clearance Diving Officer under the lateral transfer program, after a comprehensive 23 year career in the Royal Navy. He joined directly from an exchange tour of duty with the US Navy’s Supervisor Salvage and Diving in Washington D.C, where he was employed in the field of underwater engineering, specializing in propeller, CPP blade and fin stabilizer changes for all US warships and submarines worldwide. In this role Lieutenant Commander Ince was also trained as a USN saturation diver.
Since joining the RAN Lieutenant Commander Ince has been posted to various Staff Officer roles within the MCD Group and in 2008 - 2009 he conducted a tour of duty in Afghanistan as part of OPERATION SLIPPER.
Prior to taking up his latest posting; Lieutenant Commander Ince was Officer–in-Charge of the MCD Group’s newly formed Minewarfare and Geospatial Deployable Systems Team, with the prime responsibility of trialling and developing concept of operations for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles for future Navy projects.
Lieutenant Commander Ince is now posted as Commanding Officer to Ardent Four, with operational duties in HMAS Childers and Bundaberg. His hobbies include guitar, fitness and scuba diving. He is married and has two grown up sons who are also members of the ADF.
