Commander Lachlan King, RAN
Originally from South East Queensland, Commander Lachlan King, RAN is a graduate of the Royal Australian Naval College in Jervis Bay and has served as a seaman officer variously in HMA Ships and Submarines Vampire (II), Supply, Melbourne (II) (carrier), Derwent, Oxley, Orion, Fremantle (II), Rankin, Farncomb, Collins and Sheean.
Following command of HMAS Fremantle (II) in 1994 Lachlan became the inaugural Maritime Surveillance Adviser to Tuvalu where he remained until late 1996 and subsequent posting to the Directorate of Naval Officer's Postings as a Seaman Officer appointer. He has also enjoyed postings to the Joint Telecommunications School Cabarlah, Naval Headquarters in Canberra, Fleet Headquarters Sydney, HMAS Stirling in Western Australia and Operations CATALYST and SLIPPER. His work during Operation SLIPPER was recognised with the award of a Commendation for Distinguished Service in the 2003 Queen's Birthday Honours List.
Lachlan has most recently completed a challenging period as the Submarine Escape and Rescue Manager at HMAS Stirling in Western Australia.
Apart from his family, he is interested in horticulture, reading, and tennis.
