As a communications engineer within Navy Strategic Command you will have the opportunity to work within a diverse discipline.

Head Navy Engineering (HNE) Communications engineers are responsible for the planning and design, commissioning, performance monitoring, optimisation and management of complex telecommunications systems. The Directorate of Navy Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare Systems is Navy's single point of contact and centre of excellence for C4ISREW activities. The directorate provides a centre of expertise in the field of Naval platform Communications systems for major and minor projects, radio positioning systems (RPS, GPS) and satellite communications. C4ISREW ensure that the Navy is provided with communications, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and electronic warfare systems that facilitate effective command and control, and enables the right capability and information to be provided to the right people at the right time. Engineers working in these fields are innovators who perceive opportunities, frame problems, and present solutions compatible with the mission environment. The RAN now depend absolutely upon telecommunications engineering. Applications include satellite communications, GPS and ship navigation systems, ship to shore, mobile telecommunications, digital and HF telecommunications and more.
