Where was HMAS Sydney (II) found exactly? When will video of the wreck be available? May I attend the memorial on 24 of April?

All those questions and more can be answered through the HMAS Sydney (II) Information page, the Minister for Defence Science and Personnel, the Hon. Warren Snowdon, MP announced today.

"Since the discovery of HMAS Sydney (II) was announced on Monday, many relatives of those lost on the Sydney have been in touch with the Royal Australian Navy seeking further information," said Mr Snowdon.

"And we want to provide them with the latest details of the work happening at the wreck site, and of the planning for the commemorations.

"The discovery of HMAS Sydney II was momentous, and with these information services goes our very real condolences to all those family members for the loss of those 645 brave men," said Mr Snowdon.

The web site will be regularly updated regarding upcoming events including, the national memorial service on 24 April at St Andrew's Cathedral, Sydney, and the commemoration on 19 November, the 67th anniversary of the loss of HMAS Sydney II.

The web site contains a fact sheet and web links to the Finding Sydney Foundation web site and Sea Power Centre - Australia.
