Generational Navy

29 Jun 2010

A group from HMAS Toowoomba (Commander (CMDR) Ivan Ingham) visiting Toowoomba Grammar School very much enjoyed meeting proud Navy veteran Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Henry Hall MBE, who was also visiting the school to attend Grandparents Day.

The group from Toowoomba were fascinated by Henry’s account of some of his many experiences from a very distinguished career.

In return, the Toowoomba group brought Henry up to speed with an update of the Fleet and Lieutenant (LEUT) Sarah Tame took the opportunity to explain some of the recent changes being introduced under New Generation Navy.

Henry joined the RAN as a 16 year old Seaman just before the outbreak of World War II. He went on to serve in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. Henry highlighted the importance of maintaining strong and meaningful links with the Naval community, noting the strength of “the special bond that is formed between those that once served at sea, and those that remain in the service of their country”.

A long standing resident of Currarong NSW, LCDR Hall remains a very active and strong supporter of the personnel and their activities at HMAS Albatross and HMAS Creswell, and the wider Navy community.
