Attack Three (LCDR Nic Zillman) was proud to stand with the Governor-General, Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce, AC, for a wreath laying ceremony at the Changi Chapel and Museum in Singapore.

The ceremony, organised by the Australian High Commission, acknowledged the sacrifices Australians made in the defence of Singapore and was a public show of the strong relationship between Singapore and Australia.

“We are honoured to be a part of this occasion commemorating the sacrifices and commitment made by Australia’s service men and women,” said LCDR Zillman. “The ship’s company were moved by the heroism of those who served in World War II.”

“The opportunity for Attack Three to personally meet our Commander in Chief was a very special experience contributing to the broad and exciting tapestry of Navy life,” added LCDR Zilman.

Attack Three, embarked in HMAS Larrakia, completed the South East Asian deployment with port visits to Singapore and Palau to further develop Australia’s relationship with our regional neighbours and strengthen international defence cooperation.

This deployment was the first for Attack Three into South-East Asia and provided for very new experiences amongst the crew, especially the opportunity to attend the wreath laying ceremony and to taste the local culture in Singapore.

“This deployment is a great opportunity for Attack Three to showcase one of the newest additions to the Royal Australian Navy fleet to our defence counterparts in Singapore and Palau,” said LCDR Zillman.

Attack Three enjoyed a few more days of Singaporean hospitality before continuing on to Palau and returning to Darwin in early December to resume duties in support of Operation Resolute.
