HMAS Newcastle Deployment

On Monday 19 Apr 10, HMAS Newcastle (CMDR Justin Jones) will depart on a four month deployment which will take the ship and her company to Guam, Japan, Canada and Hawaii.
After a port visit in Guam, Newcastle will voyage to Japan to take part in EXERCISE NICHI GOU TRIDENT with the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force before leaving for Canada to join ships from navies across the world to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Navy. From Canada, Newcastle will transit with USS Nimitz to Hawaii to participate in the international EXERCISE RIMPAC 2010 with HMA Ships Sirius, Warramunga and Kanimbla.
Newcastle was recently awarded the Gloucester Cup, Spada Shield and Australia Cup, a proud moment for the ship’s company. CMDR Jones commented that he felt very privileged to work alongside such a happy and dedicated crew.
