QUALITY was one of eight Q Class destroyers built for the Royal Navy. She commissioned in the Royal Navy as HMS QUALITY on 7 September 1942.
During World War II she served with the Royal Navy in the South Atlantic, Mediterranean, Indian Ocean and the Pacific.
QUALITY was transferred on loan from the Royal Navy to the Royal Australian Navy on 8 October 1945. She commissioned as HMAS QUALITY on 28 November 1945.
QUALITY served mainly in eastern Australian waters, with visits to New Zealand and Manus Island, before paying off into Reserve on 25 January 1946. In June 1950 the ship's transfer to the Royal Australian Navy was made permanent. Unlike her sister ships which were converted to anti-submarine frigates in the early 1950s, QUALITY did not see further service and was sold for scrap on 10 April 1958 to Mitsubishi Ltd, Tokyo.
