Manoora completes her makeover

HMAS Manoora completed her Extended Maintenance () period recently, by departing Newcastle harbour for her arrival at her homeport, Fleet Base East.

Manoora commenced her three month makeover on the 3rd August, having all work completed by the 23rd October.

Manoora's Engineering Officer, CMDR Richard Barnett along with a core group of engineering and stores personnel, remained at the dockyard to liaise and work with civilian personnel.

Manoora has had received several upgrades, including installation of the Mini Typhoon weapons system, as well as conducting the Certification process.

In addition to her new trimmings, Manoora has also had her propulsion shafts serviced and her main engine replaced, as well as many more minor works and structural repairs completed.

Manoora's Commanding Officer, CMDR Charles McHardie, RAN, said, "this has been an impressive accomplishment of adaptability by the ship's company, achieving all the necessary requirements within their period".

Manoora's next commitment is participating in Fleet Training Activity Sea Eagle 07 in waters off Whyalla, South Australia.
