Naval College Accommodation

Collins and Farncomb House

The two main accommodation blocks for trainees are Collins and Farncomb Houses. Both are three-story dwellings with a communal laundry on the lower deck, as well as communal heads (toilets) and showers on every deck. There is a single cabin per trainee with a single bed, desk with shelving, chair, bin and wardrobe. The wardrobes have minimal room for personal clothing as uniforms take up the majority of the space. Trainees are expected to maintain the highest standard of cleanliness not only in their own cabin but in the communal areas as well. The discipline of living in "ship shape" conditions is introduced from the outset of a Navy career.
