Perhaps the most famous military runner was the Greek soldier Pheidippides who made that fateful run from Marathon to Athens in 490BC, only to collapse and die from exhaustion. While the Navy Running Association encourages athletes to challenge themselves and others in competition, we plan to avoid such an extreme outcome.

Our aim is to promote the sport of running within the Navy community and encourage all Navy personnel to challenge themselves in athletic pursuits. We seek to do this in a safe environment where runners enjoy themselves and generate esprit de corps.

We cater for a wide array of events from track sprints to marathon and membership is open to runners of all standards who are members of the Navy and Defence APS Employees attached to RAN ships and shore establishments. NRA membership is free and you can join on-line at www.navyrunning.com. The website also gives all the details about the Navy Running Association.
