Publication:Newcastle News Issue 1 2009/Reviewing Officer CDRE Bates

HMAS Newcastle was reviewed by Chief Combat Support Group (CCSG), CDRE Bates AM, RAN. The Ceremonial Guard lead by Guard Commander SBLT David Eyles, greeted CDRE Bates with a general salute. After inspecting the rest of Ship's company, CDRE Bates thanked the crew for the fine turnout, hard work and dedication to the FFG Upgrade project and offered encouragement for future deployments. On request from CMDR Justin Jones, Commodore Bates also took the time to present a Commanding Officers Commendation to AB Writer Lynzey Lake for her outstanding service to HMAS Newcastle during the FFG Upgrade.

HMAS Newcastle was also again privileged to embark the Ships Commissioning Lady, Mrs Margaret McNaughton, who, accompanied by her husband, John, witnessed the Fleet Review from the bridge beside the Commanding Officer.
