I am extremely honoured to accept the position of National Convenor for Defence Families of Australia and I am looking forward to continuing on from Maureen Greet with a strong voice for our families.
I have been a Navy spouse for 11 years and have two young children who are five and two respectively. In this time I have experienced the highs and lows of Defence life inspiring me to represent DFA previously as a National Delegate in Western Australia.
As a family, we have experienced deployments to East Timor, Solomons and Afghanistan, been MSWD(U) for two years and had five interstate moves.
Professionally, I have worked in a range of areas from NSW Chamber of Commerce, Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and Gartner Asia Pacific.
I find it very exciting that this role enables me to combine my professional and family experience and I look forward to working with many of you over the coming two years.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Maureen for her amazing contribution to DFA and her continued support as an ACT Senior Representative.
This year continues to present many challenges to Navy Families and we are working hard to provide input and feedback to Defence and its service providers.
I encourage you to contact your DFA National Delegate in your region and give us your thoughts on any Defence family issue.
As National Convenor I will be meeting regularly with Minister Bilson, CDF and CN to provide family feedback.
