Publication:Sea Talk Spring 2005/Navy Uniforms Section relocates
By Uniforms Manager John Gill
In August 2005, the Section moved out of Navy Headquarters across to Navy Systems Command, and now falls under the Assistant Director Naval Professional Requirements (Supply). Contact details are provided at the bottom of this article.
NAVSUPMAN 18
The majority of NAVSUPMAN 18 (Scales of Entitlement) has now been rewritten and is in the course of being ratified by respective category sponsors. Once ratification has occurred the publication will be forwarded to the Deputy Chief of Navy (DCN) for approval and release.
ABR81
The move to Campbell Park Offices has also become the catalyst to carry out the next round of amendments to ABR 81 - Uniform Instructions for the Royal Australian Navy. A number of anomalies have been identified since the May 2004 release and our move also means that much of Chapter 9 needs to be revisited.
RAN Clothing Price List
Calculation of the 2006 Clothing Price List will begin shortly. Efforts are being made to have the release date coincide with those of the Army and Air Force price lists, which would mean the list will be released earlier in the calendar year.
Changeover to summer uniform
Designated changeover dates for the move into summer uniform are listed in the table below.Senior Navy Commanders in each state have the authority to vary the promulgated changeover date by up to 14 days, depending on local ceremonial requirements and climatic conditions. Accordingly, personnel intending to travel interstate should confirm changeover dates prior to travelling.
