Publication:Sea Talk Summer 2005/Defence Families of Australia
Thanks to generous sponsorship from the RAN Central Canteen Fund (www.ranccf. com) we have been able to completely re- design our website to better meet the needs of Defence families. It provides better access to information and resources. It features:
- Visibility of current "hot issues" allowing you to send us your comments,
- Simplified DFA E-Bulletin subscription,
- Events calender,
- Localised news and information in each state, and
- Positions vacant
We have also rewritten much of the website content to provide clearer explanations of our services and DFA's role in the Defence community. In particular, our "Resources" webpage gathers relevant web links and references for services available to families. Families can also submit their own "Family Help Sheets" to provide tips to other families about aspects of Defence life.
We encourage you to log on as your feedback will be vital to the refinement and development of the new website - www.dfa.org.au
Make a Difference
Are you able to rise to the challenge of representing Defence families' needs to senior Defence personnel? If you want to be active in making positive changes to your Defence lifestyle then we have the opportunity for you. We are looking for three national delegates because of forthcoming postings. These vacancies will be in South Queensland, Northern Territory and South Australia. As a delegate, you will have the opportunity to take the views of the families in your area to members of Parliament and senior Defence staff. Merry Christmas
On behalf of DFA National Delegates and Senior Representatives, I would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
DFA would also like to wish all those families with partners deployed both overseas and within Australia a very special holiday blessing. Through our own experiences as spouses we understand what you are going through and our best wishes go out to you, your families and your partners.
Finally, as volunteers, our National Delegates and Senior Representatives traditionally step down over the Christmas and New Year period. If you experience difficulties getting though to your local representative please do not hesitate to contact our National Office on 1800 100 509.
