SHIPS INTELLIGENCE OFFICER COURSE 08/03

The Ships Intelligence Officer Course (SIOC) session 008 was held from the 11th - 21st August 03 at Land Warfare Centre Canungra, which is approximately 45 minutes from the Gold Coast.

This particular session included four submariners, namely, CPO "Barney" Barnett, CPO "Brom" Bromfield, PO "Apps" Appelbee, and PO "Rock" Freestone. All four students worked hard on the course and gained some of the highest marks in both the written and practical assessments.

Highlights of the course included:

  1. Being introduced to Army dress and culture.
  2. Coming a close second in the Canungra hotel quiz night.
  3. A weekly roadtrip to the Gold Coast with one member deciding the beach looked more comfortable than his hotel bed.
  4. The bus out of Canungra.

Overall the course was seen as an enjoyable experience which gave us the opportunity to explain how EWASM's do business whilst learning about the rest of the Intelligence community.
