Week 1 - 30 May 2011
Recruit Comment
"The first week wasn’t exactly what I thought it would be like. Early mornings, late nights resulting in lack of sleep, with long days of training in between is hard, although it has been very rewarding at the same time and I am really enjoying it."; RCT - from Mandurah, WA.
Week 2 - 6 June 2011
Recruit Comment
"This week at recruit school had a few fun challenges including SAS (survival at sea) which was a good time to meet your class mates. Shakedown was great; we got to work as a team and learnt each others strengths and weaknesses."; RCT Holmes - from Albion Park, NSW.
Week 3 - 13 June 2011
Recruit Comment
"The last three weeks of Recruit School have flown past, the team building and constant activities during day to day evolutions always keeps you on your toes and pushes you to new and exiting boundaries. There is pressure placed on all of us but you just take what is thrown at you and play the game. Everyday is a new experience, we all just try our best to succeed while learning new and exiting skills. I love it here!"; RCT Haubrich - from Adelaide, SA.
Week 4 - 20 June 2011
Recruit Comment
"Week four was intense. On Monday we set out to go sailing which was a blast and on Thursday we had ‘URE’ (Unit Readiness Evaluation), which pushed us all to our limits and brought Rankin together as a division ten fold. We all had a good time during ‘URE’ and walked away from it as a stronger division."; RCT Baldock - from Cairns, QLD.
Week 5 - 27 June 2011
Recruit Comment
"This week at Recruit School has been challenging. We became the intermediate division. We started weekly rounds, spent time at Seamanship School learning corrosion control and knot tying. We also had our first kit muster, which was daunting at first but quite easy. I have enjoyed this week but am looking forward to outside instruction and graduation in the next six weeks!"; RCT Wileman - from Melbourne, VIC.
Week 6 - 4 July 2011
Recruit Comment
"This week (week 6) has been a lot of fun. Our class (Ovens class) started steyer training and had our first qual shoot out at the range today, which was awesome. We are all looking forward to what lies ahead in the coming weeks."; RCT Quinn - from Hobart, TAS.
Week 7 - 4 July 2011
Recruit Comment
"Recruit school for me has been an experience to say the least! Along with the enjoyable times comes many moments that test ones will and strength to continue on. I myself have experienced both the good and the bad. Already I have made life-long friends, spent a week on an ice-breaker ship, braved freezing cold waters, sailed in extreme conditions and learnt how to make the perfect rack (bed)! There have been many times where home sickness and unfamiliar territory have made me question my choice to join, however knowing that I have an amazing career to look forward to keeps me motivated. I feel I will look upon Recruit School with great fondness-well at least one day!"; RCT Thompson - from Gold Coast, QLD.
Week 8 - 11 July 2011
Recruit Comment
"During our week on the Seahorse Spirit we experienced a trip of a lifetime. Even though there were a few mild cases of sea sickness, we didn’t let it ruin our adventure at sea. Driving the ship and meeting a crew at sea made us have an optimistic outlook on the Navy. I cannot wait to experience my first sea posting."; RCT Zilko - from Canberra, ACT.
Week 9 - 18 July 2011
Recruit Comment
"This past week, we completed our F88 Steyr training which included firing out at the range and learning armed drill. It has been a challenging week, but rewarding, as we have had a taste of what is to come for our graduation parade."; RCT Lowry - from Bendigo, VIC.
Week 10 - 25 July 2011
Recruit Comment
"This past week has been challenging, enjoyable, educational and all round fun. We started on Monday with our final PFT and our summative exam. We were then lucky enough on Wednesday to go onboard HMAS Perth, HMAS Newcastle and HMAS Sirius which was an amazing experience. Then we finished our week with MRE. Finishing the day had to be one of the best feelings, to have achieved so much."; RCT Fizthardinge - from Narooma, NSW.
Week 11 - 1 August 2011
Recruit Comment
"Recruit School is probably the best and most exciting thing that I have done in my life. I have achieved some amazing things that I would have never imagined. We had so many exciting activities constantly happening that the time just flew here. I have met some extraordinary people at Recruit School and worked well in a team environment. There were many challenging activities such as URE (Unit Readiness Evaluation) and MRE (Mission Readiness Evaluation) and the feeling you get after achieving such high standards is fantastic and I know that the skills I have gained I will use for the rest of my naval career - the rest of my life."; RCT Sherlock - from Berwick, VIC.
