HMAS Toowoomba (Commander Ivan Ingham) met the personal wishes of the families of seven former sailors during a ‘Scattering of Ashes’ ceremony conducted at sunset above the wreck of HMAS Sydney (II).

On Wednesday 3 November, whilst enroute to Fleet Base West following a three month deployment to SE Asia, Toowoomba hove-to above the wreck site of HMAS Sydney II. There, the entire Ship’s Company gathered in full ceremonial uniform on the Flight Deck of Toowoomba to honour seven Navy veterans and remember the loss of Sydney II, whilst HMAS Arunta (Commander John Stavridis) looked on from close astern.
