HMAS Stirling sailors have been getting their hands dirty in support of renovation projects at a local school.

The human resource cell at Stirling is on call to support a variety of working requirements around the base but when able, working parties are sent out into the community to assist Stirling's affiliated charity organisations, such as Malibu School. The Stirling working party have been remodelling and painting the school hall to provide a rejuvenated area to be used as a school library.

This project is just one of many that Stirling has committed to in order to provide improved facilities to the Malibu school community.

Malibu School is a public school offering intensive education and therapy programs to around 100 students aged 4-18 years with a wide range of intellectual and physical disabilities.

Stirling’s Commanding Officer, CAPT Brett Wolski said that he was happy that Stirling has continued support to Malibu School over such a significant period of time.

"The work that our sailors are doing at Malibu School is a great way for Navy to be actively giving back to the community. I am proud that Navy can be involved in this very worthy project," he said.

Malibu School is supported regularly by Stirling with fundraising, base visits and working bees.
