Team Honda Racing Experience Navy Life

Team Honda Racing Superbike Riders, Wayne Maxwell and Jamie Stauffer, experienced some of Navy Life, when they visited Darwin’s HMAS Coonawarra on Wednesday 13th April 2011. As well as touring over an Armidale Class Patrol Boat, they also rode in one of Navy’s Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats (RHIBs).
In Darwin to compete in the third round of the Australian Superbike Championship at Hidden Valley this weekend, Jamie Stauffer, the 31-year-old Honda rider from Kurri Kurri in NSW took up motorcycle riding when he was just four years old.
Third overall in the 2011 Championship, Stauffer said the riding bug was still there.
"I first rode as a four-year-old and I'm still doing it. My kids ride and my wife's family are involved in the sport, so it's really a family affair," he said.
Stauffer is on a new bike for the 2011 series and while comfortable with his third position, he believes the bike is not at its best and fully expects to be a serious contender very soon.
"It's a new bike with new suspension components and new management systems and it's taken a while to set it up as we would like," he said.
"We've had a bit of time off since the last round in Tasmania and the boys have spent some of it sorting a few things out so we should be even stronger this weekend.
"Hidden Valley is a fun track and a good place to ride. We'll go for race wins now and move up the order."
Stauffer is not expecting to move away from the Australian Superbike scene to world Superbikes or MotoGP because it is too expensive, but said he would willingly move if someone offered the right inducement.
