Week 11 - Waller Division Intake 267
18 May 2009The focus this week has been on one subject only, the Graduation Parade on Friday 22 May 2009. This Parade Training is carried out all day every day during week 11 and is a very important part of the recruits training. The entire division comes together as two platoons as the parade staff put them through their paces. Platoon 1 is led by the Divisional Chief Petty Officer and Platoon 2 is led by the Divisional Petty Officer.
Class Instructors assumed roles as 'Guides' who lead the Platoons around the Parade Ground. Armed Drill is being taught extensively throughout the week to allow the recruits to experience the actual conditions of the Parade and ensure the best possible parade is presented before the reviewing officer, CDRE Paul Kinghorne.
In the evenings throughout this week, the recruits concentrate on uniform maintenance and boot polishing, a very important feature of the Graduation Parade. The dress and bearing of the recruits on Graduation Day must be of the highest standard.
There are five awards to be presented on graduation day and these are: Recruit of the Intake, Academic Recruit of the Intake, Best Shot of the Intake, Leadership Potential and Sportsperson of the Intake.
Two awards were presented during week 11, the first to RCT Butcher for most improved fitness during the Division and the second to Brisbane class for being the best overall Waller division class.
