CAPT Charles Huxtable

Captain Charles Huxtable joined the Royal Australian Naval College in 1991 after graduating from the University of Sydney with a degree in Geology and Geophysics.

As a junior Seaman Officer Captain Huxtable served at sea in HMA Ships Derwent, Tobruk and Perth before undertaking the Principle Warfare Officer course, graduating as a Surface Warfare specialist in 1996. Warfare postings to HMA Ships Darwin and Melbourne as Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer were followed by command of the patrol boat HMAS Bunbury in 2001 and the frigate HMAS Toowoomba in 2007.

Captain Huxtable has served ashore in mainly operational and personnel-related positions including J53 (Domestic Operations) at Headquarters Joint Operations Command (HQJOC), Military Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Joint Operations, and Deputy Director Capability Workforce Reviews and Director Navy Workforce Requirements within Navy Strategic Command in Canberra. He was the Director Current Operations (J33) at HQJOC prior to assuming command of HMAS Creswell in December 2016.

Captain Huxtable has a variety of operational experience at sea and ashore including border protection operations in Australia’s northern waters, and deployments to the Middle East under Operations DAMASK, SLIPPER and CATALYST.

Captain Huxtable is a graduate of India's Defence Services Staff College, and holds Masters degrees in International Relations and Defence Studies.
