Commander Alan Moore

Commander Alan Moore joined the Navy in 1985 as an Aviation Technician Aircraft (ATA) sailor. He subsequently posted to 817 Squadron to maintain the Sea King helicopter.

In 1988, he commenced Australian Defence Force (ADF) pilot’s course flying the CT-4A and MB-326H Macchi aircraft. He graduated as a Navy helicopter pilot from the ADF Helicopter School, Canberra in 1989.

During his tenure as a Navy helicopter pilot he has flown the B206, AS350BA Squirrel, SK-50 Sea King, A109 Power and B429 aircraft. He has completed operational flying postings in 723 and 817 Squadrons and undertaken Sea King Flight Commander duties.

CMDR Moore is a Qualified Helicopter Instructor, he has completed the Qualified Helicopter Tactics Instructor course and has also performed the role of Fleet Air Arm (FAA) Chief Pilot Examiner.

CMDR Moore was posted to Commanding Officer 723 Squadron in June 2013.

CMDR Moore is married to Simone and has two children, Lauren and Lawson. He is a qualified fitter/machinist and enjoys all water sports, making cyclone-proof furniture and restoring old cars and caravans.
