CMDR Nyree Cornelius

Commander Nyree Cornelius joined the Royal Australian Navy in the early 1990s as a 17 year old Midshipman. She graduated from the Australian Defence Force Academy in 1995 and from the University of New South Wales in 1996 with first class honours in Aeronautical Engineering and dux of her engineering class.

Over the next 19 years she served in a range of roles including Deputy Engineer 816 Squadron (S-70B-2), Project Engineer in Project Sea 1405 (S-70B-2 FLIR and ESM Upgrade Project), Senior Engineering Officer of the RAN Aircraft Maintenance and Flight Trails Unit, Aerospace Engineering Officer 805 Squadron (SH-2G(A)), Navy Aviation Systems Program Office Sea King Platform Executive (SK50) and Survival and Support Equipment Integrated Logistics Manager and Resident Team Leader for Air9000 Ph 8 MH-60R Seahawk Romeo Program.

After three years as Chief Engineer and Senior Design Engineer for the RAN Fleet Air Arm, Commander Cornelius is currently the Executive Officer in HMAS Creswell.
