LCDR Jocelyn Blowfield

Lieutenant Commander Jocelyn Blowfield joined the Royal Australian Navy in 1996 as a sailor entry Radio Operator. On completion of category training, Lieutenant Commander Blowfield spent time in the tropical north, posted to NAVCOMMSTA Darwin, supporting the Patrol Boat and auxiliary fleet onboard HMA Ships Gawler, Tobruk and Westralia.

In 2001, having achieved the rank of Leading Seaman, Lieutenant Commander Blowfield transferred category to Naval Police Coxswain. As a NPC, Lieutenant Commander Blowfield served in a number of locations including HMA Ships Albatross, Kuttabul, Harman, Success, and Creswell.

In 2010 at the rank of Petty Officer, Lieutenant Commander Blowfield accepted a Commission with the Primary Qualification of Naval Police Coxswain Officer. On completion of the Warrant Officer and Senior Sailor Entry Officer Course, Lieutenant Commander Blowfield joined Albatross, as the Commanding Officer’s Staff and Security Officer.

In 2014, Lieutenant Commander Blowfield joined the staff at the Royal Australian Naval College, instructing the Junior Officer (now the Naval Officer) Leadership Course and providing Divisional training to initial entry courses as the Lead Instructor Divisional.

In August 2014, Lieutenant Commander Blowfield was selected as the Flag Lieutenant to Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral TW Barrett AO, CSC, RAN. In this role, Lieutenant Commander Blowfield was privileged to experience a number of significant events in the RAN’s history including the commissioning of HMAS Canberra, travelling to Cocos Islands to commemorate the 100th anniversary of HMAS Sydney’s victory over SMS Emden, spending the 100th anniversary of Anzac Day in Villers-Bretonneux and the recreation of HMAS AE2’s passage through the Dardanelles onboard HMAS Anzac.

Lieutenant Commander Blowfield was selected as the Head Officer Initial Training Faculty at the Royal Australian Naval College, assuming this role in December 2015.

Lieutenant Commander Blowfield has a BA in International Relations, and is currently completing a Masters degree in Security and Strategy.
