Oceans Governance and Maritime Strategy
Oceans Governance and Maritime Strategy

by
David Wilson and Dick Sherwood

Abstract

This volume is the proceedings of a conference held in Canberra in May 1998, hosted in conjunction with the Centre for Maritime Policy (now ANCORS), University of Wollongong; and Tenix Defence Systems.

Australia has vested interests in the management of the Indian, Pacific and Southern oceans; not only do they hold the key to our national security; they also have vast potential for resource and economic development. Yet problems over marine sovereignty and resources can and frequently do arise. In this volume, 20 leading authorities in the field of oceans governance examine our diverse and sometimes conflicting interests in the oceans.
