Navy and your Community

The Navy Community Engagement Program (NCEP) began in 2005, it was then called the Navy Community Engagement Strategy (NCES). The program has certainly gained momentum through the excellent efforts of all those involved across the Country and has developed into a wide ranging and valuable program of engagement with the Australian Community. The Program has evolved to allow the Navy to actively engage with the Australian community, in particular with people and organisations that influence broader sentiment about the Navy as well as promoting the contribution that the Navy makes to the Community.

The program aims to improve awareness of the Navy within the wider Australian Community, in particular the lifestyle and opportunities that Navy has to offer as well as its importance to national security and to the Community. The Community Engagement Program is one of a number of global initiatives directed at promoting the Navy’s public profile and, through that, enhancing its reputation by increasing the Australian Community’s knowledge of what the Navy is like, what it does and what it has to offer to young people. The Program leverages off existing RAN assets by utilising and coordinating existing Fleet and establishment assets and resources wherever possible.
