Introduction

The Royal Australian Navy has employed musicians in its service since 1913. During World War II musicians served with distinction in all theatres of war. Our musicians also saw action in the Korean War, Malaysian Confrontation and the Vietnam War. Since then, the Royal Australian Navy Band has performed for global audiences and continued to build its reputation ashore and afloat.

Today, the men and women of the Royal Australian Navy Band deploy throughout Australia in support of naval ceremonial, musical and public relations interests. Its musicians are highly skilled and versatile; able to perform traditional ceremonial and concert music, jazz, pop, swing, classical, and vocal harmonies.

The Royal Australian Navy Band is one of the few platforms in which Navy can take its message to the people of Australia. Its musicians promote awareness in the wider community of Navy's critical contribution to the nation. They reflect the quality of Navy's people and the values for which we all aspire.
