Publications List
- Australian Maritime Doctrine (AMD): RAN Doctrine 1 - 2000
- Australian Maritime Doctrine fills a gap in Australian military maritime writing that has traditionally existed between the strategic and operational levels. The book is open circulation and draws together aspects such as armed conflict, strategic policy, the maritime environment, maritime strategic concepts, maritime operational concepts, maritime forces and maritime campaigning.
- Navy Contribution to Australian Maritime Operations (NCAMO): RAN Doctrine 2 - 2005
- NCAMO provides greater detail on the composition and roles of the RAN's major organisational elements and the capabilities each provides as a component of the developing joint, seamless Australian Defence Force (ADF). By describing how the philosophies outlined in Australian Maritime Doctrine (AMD) are applied in practice, NCAMO serves as a valuable handbook on the RAN of today and the immediate future. NCAMO will be revised periodically to ensure it keeps pace with changes in the RAN's current structure and capabilities.
- Papers in Australian Maritime Affairs (PIAMA)
- Papers in Australian Maritime Affairs allow for the distribution of substantial work by members of the Royal Australian Navy, as well as members of the Australian and international community, undertaking original research into regional maritime issues.
- Working Papers
- The SPC-A Working Papers series is designed as a vehicle to foster debate and discussion on maritime issues of relevance to the RAN, the ADF and to Australia and the region. Graduates of strategic studies programs will be invited to have their theses published through this series.
- Semaphore Series
- The Semaphore series is a publication with a dual purpose. It is designed to raise maritime issues of immediate interest to the RAN, the ADF, Australia and the region and to create debate within both the naval community and in the Defence Organisation.
- RAN Reading List
- In 2003 the RAN General Reading List was renamed the RAN Professional Reading List, to reflect the importance that reading plays in the professional development of RAN officers and sailors. The RAN Professional Reading List is currently being developed to incorporate a guide for using the list and to update the list of recommended publications.
The list is a dynamic document that will be updated regularly as reviews are developed or received by the Sea Power Centre - Australia.
