The Royal Australian Navy’s Operation Resolute Patrol Vessel ADV Ocean Protector (OP) is a Romanian built former ROV support vessel launched on 28 January 2007 as GEO Bergen. Renamed Skandi Bergen in July of 2007 she entered service, under charter from DOF Subsea, for the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service in October 2010 as Ocean Protector, the replacement for Ocean Viking.
Purchased from DOF Subsea in 2015 by the Australian Government, her management and control was handed to the RAN in 2016. Teekay shipping, as the Contracted Vessel Operator (CVO), provide the operating crew for OP with all customs, border protection and enforcement duties conducted by embarked ABF and TSE personnel. A billeted, embarked Naval Liaison Officer (NLO) provides the coordination between Teekay and ABF/TSE.
OP provides, in conjunction with other fleet assets, a continuous presence in Australia’s EEZ.
