CMDR Fiona Eggins

Commander Fiona Eggins RAN joined the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) in January 2001 as an Electrical Engineering Student through Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA), graduating in 2004. She completed the Weapons Electrical Engineering Application Course and commenced her Assistant Weapons Electrical Engineer Officer (WEEO) posting in HMAS Stuart in 2005 where she achieved her Weapons Electrical Engineer Certificate of Competence.

On posting ashore, she was the Enabling Manager, then Operations Manager at Fleet Support Unit – South East, followed by Communications Trials Officer at Engineering Division, Fleet Headquarters.

In 2009, she was posted as the Systems Engineering Officer in HMA Ships Ballarat and Warramunga and was awarded her Weapons Electrical Engineering Charge Qualifications in November 2010.

Her following shore postings included Project Officer at RAN Test and Evaluation Acceptance Authority, conducting Operational Test and Evaluation for a number of Navy capabilities, and Combat System Manager at MCDSPO.

Commander Eggins, was appointed Weapons Electrical Engineer Officer in HMAS Warramunga 2016-2018, which included an extended deployment for Operation Manitou Rotation 66. In January 2019, she posted to Armament Technologies Cell as the Fleet Explosive Ordnance Engineer, providing EO safety and governance to the Fleet.

Promoted to Commander in 2019, Commander Eggins took up the position of Deputy Director Test and Evaluation at the Maritime Warfare Centre. Commander Eggins assumed command of HMAS Waterhen in December 2022.
