CMDR Peter Chapman

CMDR Chapman joined the RAN as a Supply Officer in 2005 via the Undergraduate Entry Scheme from Adelaide, South Australia. He completed a Bachelor of Accounting and a Master of Strategic Management prior to commencing Naval Officer training in 2008. His seagoing career has seen him serve in HMA Ships Arunta (AMLO), Perth (DMLO), Anzac (MLO) and Canberra (MLO)

CMDR Chapman completed a Master of Science in Military Workforce Analysis in 2011-12 at the US Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. He has subsequently had postings in Directorates of Workforce Requirements, Workforce Management and Defence People Group.

For his role as the MLO Workgroup Manager in 2019-20, CMDR Chapman was awarded the Conspicuous Service Medal in the 2021 Queen’s Birthday Honours List. He also received industry recognition for the same role and was the recipient of the 2021 Australian Human Resource Institute HR Practitioner of the Year Award.

CMDR Chapman completed the Australian Command and Staff Course, graduating with a Masters of Defence Strategic Studies. On completion he was promoted to the rank of Commander and assumed the role as Director Training Authority – Maritime Logistics and Health within Training Force.

CMDR Chapman assumed Command of the Royal Australian Naval College 13 December 23.
