LCDR Adam Stafford

Lieutenant Commander Adam Stafford, RAN joined the Royal Australian Navy in January 2005 from Mackay, Queensland as a Direct Entry Maritime Warfare Officer. Following achievement of his Primary Qualification as an Officer of the Watch he served in HMAS Ships Tobruk and Stuart. While serving in Stuart in 2009, he completed a six month deployment to the Middle East Area of Operations taking part in anti-piracy patrols and convoy escort in the Gulf of Aden. 

In December 2010 Lieutenant Commander Stafford took up the position of Executive Officer and Navigating Officer of Assail Six, an Armidale Class Patrol Boat Crew based in Darwin. It was during his tenure in Assail Six that the Crew was awarded a Chief Joint Operations Gold Group Commendation for their work on Operation RESOLUTE.

From January 2013 Lieutenant Commander Stafford spent a short time in Navy Strategic Command as a Staff Officer in Navy International Engagement before undertaking the RAN Principal Warfare Officers Course in 2014; specialising in Air Warfare. 

On completion of Principal Warfare Officers Course Lieutenant Commander Stafford posted to HMAS Warramunga as the Gunnery Officer. Following several months in this position he took on the additional role of Operations Officer. During his time in Warramunga, he participated in several major international exercise, overseas deployments and several weapons trials with the new CEA phased array radar.

In August 2017, Lieutenant Commander Stafford posted to Fleet Command as the Fleet Activity Schedule Coordinator and Planner for Major Fleet Units in Maritime Operations.

Lieutenant Commander Stafford assumed Command of HMAS Broome (II) in December 2018.
