Lieutenant Commander Alicia Runde

Lieutenant Commander Alicia Runde, RAN was born in Hastings, New Zealand in 1984 and spent her childhood in Townsville, Qld. She joined the Royal Australian Navy as a Maritime Warfare Officer in 2002.

During her Maritime Warfare Officer training Lieutenant Commander Runde served in HMA Ships Tobruk, Bendigo, Benalla, Success and Arunta before attaining her Bridge Warfare Certificate in HMAS Anzac in 2006. In 2007 she completed Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and CATALYST in the Northern Arabian Gulf in Anzac.

In 2008 the then Lieutenant Runde completed Intermediate Navigation course and subsequently took up the role of Executive and Navigating Officer of patrol boat crew ATTACK SIX followed by ARDENT THREE. 

In 2010 Runde completed Surface Combatant Navigation Course and served in HMAS Perth from 2010 to 2012. In 2013 and 2014 Runde posted to Australian Frigate Group where she worked for the Capability Manager Representative.

In 2015 Lieutenant Commander Runde commenced Principal Warfare Officer course and graduated in 2016 as a Principal Warfare Officer – Navigation. From here, she posted to HMAS Sirius as the Operations and Navigating Officer until 2018.

Lieutenant Commander Runde assumed Command of the Armidale Class Patrol Boat HMAS Childers on 10 December 2018.
