LCDR Gabrielle Dobson

Lieutenant Commander Gabrielle Dobson joined the RAN in 2006 as an undergraduate entry Maritime Warfare Officer. After graduating with a Bachelor of Forensics and a Bachelor of Science, Lieutenant Commander Dobson undertook her initial entry training prior to commencing the Junior Warfare Application Course. She served in HMA Ships Manoora, Toowoomba, Broome and Maitland prior to award of her Bridge Watchkeeping Certificate in HMAS Warramunga. Lieutenant Commander Dobson then deployed in HMAS Anzac, completing a Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO) rotation in support of Operation SLIPPER.

In 2013, Lieutenant Commander Dobson worked as the Staff Officer to the Director General Maritime Operations, prior to moving overseas. The family was on exchange in San Diego, California for two years while her husband was an exchange officer with the United States Navy. During this time, she worked as a Research Officer for the Sea Power Centre - Australia, prior to becoming a new mum.

Lieutenant Commander Dobson was most recently the Career Manager MWO6 for all Officers of the Watch. This posting followed two years as Second in Charge and then Officer in Charge of the Junior Warfare Application Course at HMAS Watson, responsible for the training, divisional and administrative management of all Maritime Warfare Officers under training.

Lieutenant Commander Dobson has just completed her Masters in Strategic People Management, and is keen to apply the theoretical leadership and human resource knowledge in her role as Executive Officer Royal Australian Naval College.
