USS Canberra Freedom of Entry parade

Commander Will Ashley Commanding Officer USS Canberra Blue Crew and Chief of Navy Australia Vice Admiral Mark Hammond AO, lay a wreath at the HMAS Canberra Navy Memorial.

On 23 July, the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) will grant Freedom of Entry to the crew of the future USS Canberra a day after the ship officially becomes a part of the US Navy active fleet. This tradition, which stretches back to medieval times, is a mark of trust and confidence. This is the highest accolade a city can bestow and is a symbol of the strong alliance between Australia and the US.

The parade will then continue south on Northbourne Avenue, left into London Circuit and end at Civic Square.
