On Friday 24 October 2025, HMAS Penguin will conduct a Freedom of Entry to the Municipality of Mosman as part of the Festival of Mosman celebrations. The Freedom of Entry is a traditional military ceremony symbolising trust and respect between a military unit and the local community.

The Freedom of Entry parade is being held in conjunction with the Festival of Mosman to highlight the Navy’s presence and close relationship with the local community, and to foster local engagement, pride, and awareness of Defence activities.

The parade steps off at 11.30am, accompanied by the Navy Band, a ceremonial guard and traditional pageantry.

The Freedom of Entry is one of the oldest and most honoured customs in military history, symbolising mutual trust and respect between a military unit and the community it serves. During the parade, Navy personnel from HMAS Penguin will march proudly through the streets of Mosman in ceremonial uniform, accompanied by music and colours, showcasing the strong bond between Defence and the local community.
