2026 marks 125 years since the formation of the Commonwealth Naval Forces that later become the Royal Australian Navy. Many events and activities will be conducted around Australia to mark Navy’s 125th anniversary.

Events will include the biggest assembly of international naval sea power on Sydney Harbour for more than a decade as part of the 2026 International Fleet Review.

Up to 20 visiting international ships are expected. At 8 am 21 March 2026, the first ships will pass Bradleys Head and proceed to their berths and anchorages.

All ships are expected to be berthed or at anchor by midday. The afternoon will feature the Reviewing ship pass by every ship, with a 21-gun salute from the gun battery at Garden Island Naval Base concluding the International Fleet Review at about 4 pm.

A Fleet Review is a tradition where a reviewing officer ‘reviews’ massed ships of one or multiple navies. Since the 19th century, fleet reviews have been held for commemorative and celebratory purposes.

Members of the public are invited to watch the review from various locations around Sydney Harbour.

This is a free, public event. No tickets or registration is required.
