During November, the Royal Australian Navy Band Melbourne will bring music to communities across Victoria. Audiences can enjoy Wind Band, rock and jazz performances. The band will also support Remembrance Day and the sinking of HMAS Sydney II.
On 19 November 1941, HMAS Sydney II sank after a battle with the German raider HSK Kormoran off the coast of Western Australia. It remains Australia’s worst naval disaster with the loss of all 645 crew. On the anniversary, the Royal Australian Navy Band will remember the crew and 12 bandsmen lost.
