HMAS Cairns Open Day

HMAS Cairns would like to welcome you to our first Open Day since 2013!

Come along and spend a day meeting and talking to our service members whilst experiencing what service life in the Far North Queensland has to offer! Enjoy a day of family friendly fun featuring Boat Rides, BBQ and a tour on Cape Otway!

• Tours on Cape Otway and Boarding Party Equipment Displays
• Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat and Sea Boat Rides through the basin
• Armoury Tours, weapons display and Boarding Party Display
• Workshop Tours through Fleet Support Unit – North East and Laser Engraving display
• Sea-Spider Static Displays
• 2x Survey Craft static displays supported by various Hydrographic Equipment and imagery
• Clearance Diver Static Display of equipment
• Obstacle Course managed and run by the Cairns Personal Training Instructors
• Bandaging/CPR/PPE Demonstrations by our Naval Medics
• Sea Training Group First Aid Attack Races
• Naval Communication Flag Scavenger Hunt throughout HMAS Cairns
• Stationary Joint Military Police Unit Service Vehicle Tour
• Training Ship Endeavour Cadet Tour and training displays
• Navy Indigenous Developmental Program and Defence Force Recruiting Information
• Defence Members Family Services, Return Service League and Legacy Support Stalls
• Face painting and Live Music
• Interactive Museum, items on display from the Kokoda Hall Museum with Curator Support
• Stall from Kookaburra Kids

Conditions of Entry

• Must be registered with Eventbrite (can register at the gate)
• Must have enclosed shoes (no thongs)
• No Alcohol to be brought onto HMAS Cairns
• Members of the public may be subject to a bag search upon arrival
• Children must be accompanied/supervised by an adult at all times

Car Parking and Access

• Access to the HMAS Cairns car park on Cook Street

Amenities

• Bathroom access
• Parents Room will be set up in an air-conditioned space
• Navy Anchorage (café) will be open to the public
• Open Day BBQ
• Access to cold water and rehydration stations throughout HMAS Cairns
• It is recommended that you bring your own water bottles, sunscreen and hats
• You are welcome to bring your own picnic and enjoy the gorgeous HMAS Cairns views
• St Johns Ambulance will be onsite for emergencies
