Recruit School Support Services

Cerberus Health Centre (CerHC)

The Cerberus Health Centre is a fully equipped medical facility, staffed by Defence and civilian personnel who provide medical and dental support to all Australian Defence Force personnel in the local area.

The facility includes a 30 bed ward for inpatients, an outpatient clinic, and support services such as physiotherapy and pharmacy. Defence Members may be referred by Health care staff to external health care providers (e.g. x-ray, podiatry) as required. BUPA optical provides on-site services two days a fortnight.

Recruits who are unwell attend the Health Centre at programmed times, though those requiring more immediate attention, can attend at any time by informing their Divisional Staff or the Duty Instructor.

Chaplain

The RAN Recruit School has its own full time Navy Chaplain who together with Cerberus Chaplaincy offer support services (accessible 24 hours a day/7 days a week). Cerberus Chaplaincy offers multi, or non-faith Chaplaincy in which the Chaplain, or Maritime Spiritual Wellbeing Officer, is available to provide confidential pastoral support. The Recruit School Chaplain assists recruits with the transition from civilian to sailor.

Defence Psychologists

Recruits have access to a range of psychological support services provided by on base Psychologists at HMAS Cerberus. The primary role of the Defence Psychologist is to assist with matters that arise in the course of training and employment. Recruits may be referred to a Psychologist by Divisional Staff for advice on other matters, such as time management and coping strategies. Recruits may also refer themselves to a Psychologist by submitting a written request to their Divisional Staff.
