Operation RENDER SAFE

Operation RENDER SAFE 2019 is a joint Australian and New Zealand Defence Force effort working with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, disposing of unexploded and abandoned Second World War explosives. HMAS Adelaide is supporting personnel as they undertake clearance and disposal activities around Vella Lavella Island, Ghizo, Kolombangara Island, Vonavona Island and north-west New Georgia Island.

Operation RENDER SAFE is the ADF-led enduring commitment to removing the threat posed by the explosive remnants of war from Pacific nations involved in the Second World War.

Operation RENDER SAFE assists Pacific nations through the safe disposal of explosive remnants of war, as well as providing education and training to enhance the security capabilities of our Pacific partners.

Operation RENDER SAFE 19 occurs from the 27 October to 4 November 2019.
