The Browning 12.7mm M2 Heavy Barrel Quick Change Barrel machine gun is carried by all RAN surface combatants. It was introduced into the Navy's inventory in 2004. It is a robust and capable weapon used in both defensive and attacking roles. The machine gun is effective at close range against both surface and air targets. It is ideal for providing covering fire for boarding parties.
