Moreton, formerly known as Navy Headquarters - South Queensland, was commissioned in May 2016. HMAS Moreton is situated at Bulimba on the Brisbane River in South Queensland.
HMAS Moreton is formally responsible for the coordination and administration of all Navy activity in in the area stretching from the New South Wales (NSW) border to the Tropic of Capricorn (22,000 square kilometres). It delivers shore-based capability to support Australian Defence Force (ADF) operations. The base also provides visit liaison and ceremonial support to visiting ships into the ports of Gladstone, Brisbane, Bundaberg and Southport.
The Brisbane region expands to include Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Logan and the Scenic Rim. Both the Gold and Sunshine coast regions lie within a 2-hour drive where visitors can take part in a range of activities from skydiving to snorkelling.
