The Stay Onboard – People First campaign is a program designed to support Navy retention through member advocacy, research and initiatives that encourage Navy members to continue their service.
Stay Onboard - People First launched in 2022 with over 90 initiatives - many of these are now part of everyday business. The campaign has recently been simplified and refreshed to deliver meaningful Navy-led benefits and opportunities that focus on the issues that matter most to Navy members and their families.
Navy Retention Initiatives
Stay Onboard – People First initiatives align with the six Lines of Effort from the Defence Benefits and Conditions program:
- Pay and financial benefits
- Purpose
- Workplace experience
- Ways of working
- Career and personal development
- Wellbeing and family
Some of our most recent initiatives include the Navy Families Newsletter, a program to support members returning from extended leave from work, and housing trials in selected locations to assist with affordability.
